Filming Process: Day 1 Plans

Filming Process
Day One

Concerning our filming process, what I believe to be one of the most challenging aspects of it will be choosing the day of filming as it will be difficult for all of us to be available on any given day for filming. Another major concern of mine would be acting. Though I am confident in myself and my group's acting capabilities, one thing I am not confident in is my ability to keep a straight face when acting in front of my fellow group members. Lastly, a concern would be that the personalities of the various characters are accurately portrayed by their costumes. Something that I believe would be rather easy in comparison to this would be the creation of our settings. Seeing as how our film will for the most part consist of an empty room with a single table and two chairs with the two characters conversing. Also, since the lighting will be dim and low-key for the most part I believe that would be relatively easy.

ACTORS

Alright, so obviously the actors will consist of the four members of our group, being myself, Kayla, Jacob, and Aaliyah. There is also the possibility for a couple of special guests that would play the role of the investigator/detective and also a police officer to provide a sense of authority. The four group members would ideally play the roles of the four suspects, though there is the possibility that we play every role and there is no guest actors.

COSTUMES

Concerning the costumes, we plan on incorporating various high school stereotypes with our costumes with the inclusion of a jock, nerd, rich girl, and an artistic girl. These costumes will consist of a letterman jacket, a sweater vest and glasses, expensive purple clothing, and just some casual wear. Also, there will be a formal suit (potentially a trench coat too) for the investigator and obviously the officer will be in uniform.

PROPS

We plan on having minimal props and those that would be extremely simple. For starters, there would mostly be props for the detective such as a briefcase as well as several documents on the table for when the interrogation takes place. Also, a white cloth that would be placed over the body of the victim and perhaps a murder weapon laying beside it.

LOCATIONS

Regarding the location in which we will be filming, we have had discussions of filming in a room in a library as the place for the main interrogations which will be the focal point of our film and ideally we would film the opening murder scene in or near somebody's house, though that is still subject to change.

DATES AND TIME

We will most likely be filming everyday that we are all available since those days are rare enough and we plan to begin filming at earlier times in the day, preferably 1 pm. For the murder scene, there is the possibility that we to those scenes later on in the day in order to add to the tension.

SCRIPTS

In terms of scripts, though we have yet to discuss this portion of the movie opening process yet, in all likelihood it will be Jacob constructing the bulk of the scripts. We hope to convey the characters' individual thought processes and how they come to terms with the predicament that they have found themselves in.

FILM EQUIPMENT

HOPEFULLY, filming will progress just fine with the phone cameras that we have as they have such great quality. However, if we find our film to be clearly lacking due to the quality of camera, we are not fearful of utilizing an actual filming camera in order to bring about the results we desire. Also, we will use a tripod in order to get our ideal static shots.
