Opening Project Mood Board
Through these two mood boards, I am trying to convey a sense of danger while also portraying the intense amounts of tension in which our film opening is hopefully going to have. On the other hand, the various outfits are supposed to be a slight hint as to who our characters are going to be, the stereotypical high school group that should have no real relation to each other. For example, the cartoony characters on the bottom left of the first mood board are supposed to portray the stereotypical nerd and jock in a high school environment. I feel like this type of mood will perfectly fit our movie opening as we want to create a murder mystery type of feeling as best as possible while still leaving the naivety that these people, who are ultimately still children, have. The caution tape, knife, as well as other images that can be associated with criminal activity are there so as to set a sort of foundation for our film. The idea is that our movie opening will center around the murder of someone and the various teenage stereotypes are the suspects. The trench coat, evidence folder, as well as the brief case will all be props for the investigator that will ultimately be interrogating our main characters throughout the film. The interrogations will take place in a poorly lit room with nothing more than two chairs and a table for the conversation to take place. Furthermore, every teenage suspect will ultimately gather in a waiting room type of area in which everyone is trying to get a gauge of the others' motives. Overall, I believe that these images accurately portray the type of film opening that we are attempting to produce.
